What we build
Starblaze is an Australian software company. We build software and back the companies that run it — we are not an agency and we do not sell services to third parties. We are a shareholder in, and development partner to, CourseSpot Pty Ltd (ABN 62 695 422 710), whose platform CourseSpot is a booking and payments system for small creative and wellness studios. Our engineers help build it, and we fund and run its customer acquisition through Google Ads.
CourseSpot
CourseSpot is a hosted booking system for people who teach in small groups — pottery and ceramics studios, sewing schools, art classes, photography and jewellery workshops, maker spaces, yoga and dance teachers. It replaces the spreadsheet, the direct-message thread and the bank-transfer chase that most independent studios run on.
A studio signs up, publishes its courses, and gets its own booking page. Students browse the timetable, book a place, complete any waivers and pay by card. Payments are deposited directly to the studio's own bank account. Automated reminders go out before each class, and the studio sees its roster, attendance and revenue in one place.
No monthly subscription. A small fee per booking, charged only when the studio gets paid.
Independent studios and individual instructors, typically one to ten staff, running term courses and drop-in workshops.
Australia and New Zealand today, with the platform built to widen to other English-speaking markets.
How we market CourseSpot
CourseSpot customers are acquired largely through Google Ads. We run Search campaigns against the terms a studio owner uses when they are shopping for booking software — organised by craft, so a pottery studio and a sewing school each see wording that matches their own trade. We fund and run this advertising ourselves, in a Google Ads account Starblaze owns and pays for.
We have no advertising clients and take no fee for advertising work. We do not resell or expose Google Ads access, and we do not offer marketing services to third parties.
CourseSpot Ads Manager — our internal tool
CourseSpot Ads Manager is a set of internal command-line scripts and scheduled jobs that manage our own advertising account through the Google Ads API. It is used by our own team only. It has no public interface, no external users, and no third-party access of any kind.
It exists because our most important measurement happens after the click. Somebody clicks an ad and signs up; whether they become an activated, paying studio is only known days or weeks later, inside our own application. Connecting that later outcome back to the ad that produced it means uploading offline conversions keyed on the Google click identifier — which our signup flow captures and stores against the customer record. That is only possible through the API.
Reporting
Scheduled retrieval of campaign, ad group, keyword and search-term performance for internal analysis and a weekly summary for our team.
Search-term hygiene
Reviewing the search-terms report and adding negative keywords. Our vertical keywords collide constantly with consumers looking for a class to attend, so this pruning is continuous.
Campaign maintenance
Creating and updating keywords, responsive search ads, bids and budgets on our own campaigns, applied after internal review.
Offline conversion upload
Uploading click conversions when an advertising-acquired signup becomes an activated customer. These uploads carry the click identifier and conversion metadata only — no customer personal data.
Scope. Requests are made under our own Google account, through our own manager account, exclusively against the one client account we own. Report data is stored in our internal analytics store. No advertising data is shared with, sold to, or exposed to any third party.
